Blinks at PlayNYC Recap
over 1 year ago – Sat, Nov 12, 2022 at 08:24:46 PM

Hey Backers,

Last weekend we participated in Playcrafting’s annual event of PlayNYC. It's exciting being part of such a vibrant local scene. We were impressed by all of the amazing games and creators that we were lucky to join exhibiting at PlayNYC.

We are fortunate to have such a supportive Kickstarter as well as local community and always look forward to these opportunities to interact with our communities!

On the manufacturing front, things are still on track for Spring production and delivery.

A Quick Blinks Update + PlayNYC
over 1 year ago – Mon, Oct 17, 2022 at 06:17:50 PM

Hey Backers,

Wanted to give a quick update.

We're still on track for a Spring 2023 delivery. Last week, I was on the phone with our chip manufacturer and the manufacturer of Blinks – both confirmed that we are still on schedule. We've manufactured with our partner for 4 years and love working with them. It was really nice to hear how much they enjoy being a part of making them real.

We'll be at PlayNYC on November 5th. We love being a part of the greater NY game scene and look forward to meeting fellow game designers and enthusiasts in person. If you're local, we'd love to see you too!

Major Production Delay
over 1 year ago – Fri, Aug 19, 2022 at 04:11:10 AM

Hey Backers,

This update is a weighty one. Regretfully, we will not be able to begin fulfilling the Kickstarter until the Spring of next year. I am personally sorry for this significant delay and take full responsibility. Unfortunately, I messed up in two key ways, first with my part procurement decisions and second my delays in communication.

I understand just how disappointing this will be to those of you excited to get your hands on Blinks. This is the result of a tricky supply chain issue, that I stubbornly believed we could work around. At this point, I have to share that we could not work around it.

I got into a cycle of postponing communication while waiting for key information from our suppliers and manufacturer, hoping to provide a new and accurate timeline for Blinks. This wishful thinking was misguided in hindsight.

We had good reason to believe we could secure our parts prior to the campaign. We received news shortly after funding, that one of our parts was not available and an exhaustive search for this part revealed that it would only be available in 2023. We continued to look for parts that could be available sooner, but they came with a minimum increase in cost of 600%. We nearly pulled the trigger to acquire these parts, but simply lacked the resources. We have now secured our parts with the original chip manufacturer and a production date of March 2023.

We will need to await our final component before production can be completed for the newest batch of Blinks.

If you decide that you do not want to wait for your Blinks, you will have the option to get a full refund. Because it is not possible to process a refund through Kickstarter, you will need to contact us at [email protected].

We are committed to delivering our Kickstarter and will continue to share regular updates for the games and production process.

humbly yours,

Readying the Rulebooks, We'd love your Feedback!
over 1 year ago – Fri, Jul 22, 2022 at 03:16:37 AM

Hey Backers,

Today, I’d like to share a content progress update. We’ve been connecting with backers and hearing just how excited you all are to get your Blinks. We know the waiting is the hard part, so thanks for your patience as we finalize materials and produce your Party Packs and Blinks Game Systems.

3 Blinks game cartridges

Our previous Blinks games have had printed rulebooks that do the trick, but admittedly leave more to be desired. In fact some of our Blinks Community members went so far as to create their own binders of Blinks rule books with their own style and personal flair! We love seeing what you come up with.

Inspired by the world building of traditional board games, Ryan proposed a new spin on our rulebooks. We are excited to bring more background into Blinks games, and Lucy has been bringing the new games to life with her illustrations.

Each of these rulebooks are a work in progress, and we wanted to invite your feedback so that when they go to print next month, we have already had a chance to get your input and make them a meaningful part of the Blinks experience.

We want to know... Do you understand how to play? Is anything confusing, unclear, or offensive? Are there flourishes you’d like to see?

Looking forward to your feedback and excited to share our next update soon!

Surprise Update - Support a friend's game!
almost 2 years ago – Thu, Jun 30, 2022 at 03:53:57 AM

Hey Backers,

Jon here 👋  Today I have a quick update for you.

I’d like to share the work of a friend and my first roommate in NYC! If you love meticulous work, passion projects, or nostalgic gameplay, you will delight in helping this Kickstarter campaign across the finish line.

With only 48 hours to go for Little Nemo and the Guardians of Slumberland, you can help them reach their goal and get some sweet rewards! Check it out here:

Fun fact. The soundtrack to the game is created by another former roommate, Peter Berkman of Anamanaguchi!

While this game is sadly not playable on pocket-sized hexagons, you can likely see the influence my roommates had on me and my journey into games.
